Paul says- Timothy will remind you of what I taught you. He would train them how to walk in the way of Jesus. the path or the road. On this journey walking the way Jesus would walk. Paul says Timothy knows all about what Paul was about. Would Timothy find others so that he would again pass this on.
The be imitators part is a little scary. Imitate me like I imitate Christ.
another verse. Matthew 10:24 says when a student is fully trained, he will be just like his teacher.

I think it's interesting that as I go back and read this passage about Peter walking on the sea for a moment, it does indicate that his "lack of faith" is about himself. Jesus clearly was disappointed that Peter had trouble believing he could be like his Rabbi (in this case: standing on water).
ReplyDeleteIn my life I am certainly like Peter. I can put my faith in The Father all day long, but when I see the faith He has in me I mentally fight it. When I hear that Jesus now calls his followers...me...to be the ones to take His message into the world, I tend to share Peters doubt.
Peter wasn't able to go and start the "church", and
proclaim the Gospel until he grasped the faith Jesus had placed in him, and his fellow disciples.
I'm going to go attempt to stand in my filled bath tub.
